Make a Little Magic: A New Year Mini Retreat in Sacramento

The first days of a new year hold so much possibility. The calendar is open. Nothing has been decided yet.

Most of us meet that moment alone, with a planner and a list of resolutions. I'd like to offer something different: an afternoon to meet it together.

On Sunday, January 3, 2027, I'm hosting Make a Little Magic, a three-hour mini retreat of sound, art, and intention at Time To Be Fit in East Sacramento. There are 13 seats.

Why I'm doing this

I believe in intention. I also believe action has to follow it. A wish with no next step stays a wish.

And I believe there's room in a grounded life for a little magic. For color, for mystery, for a deck of cards that gets you talking, for an afternoon that's simply fun. Call it manifesting if you like. I call it starting the year on purpose, with good people around you.

What the afternoon holds

Art with a secret inside. You'll make a framed piece of abstract art with your intentions tucked right inside it. Anyone who sees it on your wall will see color and design. Only you will know the secret. It's easy, it's fun, and no art experience is needed.

A peek at the cards. My daughter, Emma Simpson, reads tarot, and she's bringing her deck for the afternoon. Whenever the mood strikes, set down your brush and sit with her for a short reading. A playful prompt for the year ahead, and completely optional.

Sip, snack, create. Finger food and treats to nibble while you create. Hot tea, hot cocoa, and sparkling water.

Then, we rest. We close with a sound bath. Settle into a zero-gravity lounge chair with a cozy blanket and a heated aromatherapy eye mask while I play crystal singing bowls, gong, ocean drum, and chimes. While you rest, your art sets, and so do your intentions.

Good company. This is a gathering, not an appointment. Come curious, leave with new friends.
